Expression of pleiotropin mRNA in oral cancer

Abstract

Objective To detect the expression of pleiotropin mRNA in oral cancer.Methods RT-PCR and in situ hybridization analysis for pleiotropin mRNA were performed in 50 cases of oral cancer(20 cases with metastasis of lymph nodes),30 cases of benign tumor,and 30 cases of normal tissue.Results RT-PCR showed that the expressions of pleiotropin mRNA in cancer tissue was stronger than that in benign tumor and normal tissue(P0.01).Pleiotropin mRNA was stained in the cytoplasm of cancer cells.Conclusion Pleiotropin mRNA was overexpressed in oral cancer.
