Abstract

[Objective] To examine the expression of suppression tumor 14(ST14) and its inhibitor, hepatocyte growth factor activator inhibitor-1(HAI-1) in none small lung cancer(NSLC) and to assign clinicopathological correlations.[Method] We have determined by In Situ Hybridization(ISH) the expression of HAI-1 mRNA and ST14 mRNA in 30 none small lung cancer and 30 normal lung tissue specimens.Statistical analyses of ISH expression data with clinical outcome and clinicopathological parameter were then performed.[Result] In the cancer tissue the HAI-1 mRNA and ST14 mRNA levels were lower than normal lung tissue(P 0.05).The expression of HAI-1 mRNA and ST14 mRNA in well differentiated tissue were higher than undifferentiated tissue(P 0.05),HAI-1 mRNA and ST14 mRNA in none lymph node metastasis cancer tissue were higher than lymph node metastasis cancer tissue(P 0.05).[Conclusion] The expression of HAI-1 mRNA and ST14 mRNA in none small cell lung cancer were markedly lower than those in normal tissue. The expression of HAI-1 mRNA and ST14 mRNA had relationship with carcinoma differentiation and lymph node metastasis.
