Therapeutic effect of Vitapex in root canal filling in short term

Abstract

AIM:To compare the therapeutic effects of Vitapex plus gutta percha and zinc oxide eugenol paste plus gutta percha in root canal filling in short term.METHODS:161 teeth were randomly divided into two groups. The root canals of 82 teeth (group A)were filled with zinc oxide eugenol paste plus gutta percha.Those of 79 teeth(group B)were filled with Vitapex plus gutta percha. The therapeutic effects were evaluated by follow up of 3 to 6 months. RESULTS: After 3 months, efficiency rates of group A and group B were 80.3% and 93.1% respectively.Difference between two groups was significant ( P 0.05),After 6 months,efficiency rates of group A and group B were 82% and 95% respectively.Difference between two groups was also significant ( P 0.05).CONCLUSION:Vitapes has a good short term therapeutic effect in root canal therapy.
