Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the severity of coronary lesions and serum uric acid level in hypertensives. Methods The hypertensive patients without type 2 diabetes receiving coronary angiography were divided into coronary artery lesion group and control group. Serum uric acid level and other biochemical parameters were determined. Results The serum uric acid level in CHD group was significantly higher than that in the control group [(430.01±122.33) mmol/L vs (403.18±94.98) mmol/L, P0.05]. The severity of coronary lesions using QCA analysis system and stepwise regression analysis showed a lineal relationship between serum uric acid levels and severity of coronary lesions. Conclusion In the hypertensives, the elevated serum uric acid level may play a role in promoting coronary athersclerosis.
