Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the relationship between the serum uric acid(SUA)level and the severity of coronary lesions in elderly patients with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods:A total of 255 elderly patients who received angiography and hospitalized in the department from January 2008 to December 2011 were collected.According to the results of coronary angiography, the patients were divided into CHD group(n=183)and non-CHD group(n=72),in turn, divided into single-,double-and triple-vessel disease groups according to the number of coronary artery branches with lesions, the serum uric acid level was determined, and the serum uric acid levels of different groups and the association between the serum uric acid level and coronary lesions were analyzed. Results:Level of serum uric acid in CHD group(321.825±113.483μmol/L) was significantly higher than that of non-CHD group(260.948±76.438μmol/L,P0.01).The serum uric acid levels of the single-vessel group,double-vessel group and triple-vessel group were 314.03±112.313μmol/L,317.08±108.739μmol/L and 338.43±107.762μmol/L.There were no significant difference among them(all P0.05).The further multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that serum uric acid was significantly associated with coronary lesions after other risk factors were adjusted(P=0.014,OR=1.005,95% CI:1.001~1.008).Conclusion:Serum uric acid levels are correlated with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease and the severity of coronary lesions, and it's an important biochemical indicator reflecting the severity of CHD.Early intervention of high level of serum uric acid may decline the occurrence of acute coronary heart disease.
