Abstract

Objective To explore effect of sICAM-1 in occurrence and development of acute cerebral infarction, and to guide the judgement of development of acute cerebral infarction in clinical use. Methods The serum sICAM-1 levels were measured serially with double antibodies sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELASA)in 35 patients with acute cerebral infarction respectively. The results were compared to those of 30 patients with deficient cerebral blood-supply and 30 normal controls. Results The level of sICAM-1 in patients with acute cerebral infarction 1 day after onset increased significantly and was significantly higher than that in patients with deficient cerebral blood-supply and normal controls(P0.05).The level of sICAM-1 in patients with acute cerebral infarction increased from day 1 after onset to day 3,decreasing from day 3 to day 7 and increasing from day 7 after onset to day 14 again. There was no significant difference of serum sICAM-1 level between patients with large, medium and small cerebral infarction. Conclusion sICAM-1 is closely related to occurrence and development of acute cerebral infarction and may be used as an assisted index to monitor development of acute cerebral infarction.
