Abstract

Objective To study the effect of soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1) and coagulation factor VII (FVII) in occurrence and development of acute cerebral infarction, and to guide the diagnosis for clinical course of acute cerebral infarction. Methods For 30 patients with acute cerebral infarction the level of sVCAM-1 were measured serially by two-layer antibody sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELASA) and FVII:C was measured by phase I coagulation method with automatic Coagulation Analyzer 500(CA500),and the results were compared to those of 26 patients with brain lacking blood and 30 normal control. Results The level of sVCAM-1 of the patients with acute cerebral infarction on the first day after onset was significantly increased and higher than those of the patients with brain lacking blood and normal control (P0.01).The level of sVCAM-1 of the patients with acute cerebral infarction increased from the first day after onset to the 7th day,but decreased from the 7th day to the 14th day.The level of sVCAM-1 of the patients with acute cerebral infarction was significantly different among the patients with large and medium as well as small cerebral infarction (P0.01).The level of FVII:C of the patients with acute cerebral infarction was not statistically different from that of the patients with brain lacking blood and normal control (P0.05),and there was not statistically significant difference in the process of acute cerebral infarction (P0.05).Conclusion sVCAM-1 is closely related to the occurrence and development of acute cerebral infarction and may be used to monitor the development of acute cerebral infarction. There is not significant relation between FVII:C and acute cerebral infarction.
