Abstract
This paper studied initiation, maintenance and differentiation of callus from mature embryo and immature embryo of 21 genotypes in sweet corn. The results showed that the induced callus frequency was correlated with mature embryo and immature embryo, but the callus quality was obviously different, the quality of callus obtained from immature embryo was generally better than that of mature embryo. The influence of embryo on callus induction, the ability of callus amplification and the number of buds on the green plant regeneration were studied in 21 sweet corn cultivars. The results indicated that embryo-callus induction and the ability of callus amplification had close correlation with regeneration.
