Abstract

This paper deals with studies on initiation, maintenance and differentiation of callus from mature embryo and immature embryo of thirteen genotypes in corn. The results showed that the callus induced frequency were correlated between mature embryo and immature embryo, but the callus quality was obviously different. Calli obtained from immature embryo were generally batter than those of mature embryo. The differentiation frequency was widely different between the two kinds of callus, only 2.5% differentiation frequency could be obtained on mature embryo callus, and the differentiation frequency on immature embryo callus could be up to 83.3%.
