The Effect of 5-year-old planting ginseng on immune function in adult mice

Objective To observe the effect of 5-year-old planting ginseng on immune function in mice. Methods Normal adult ICR mice were randomly divided into 10 groups: control group, the low, medium, high dose groups of original powder of 5-year-old planting ginseng(0.25, 0.5 and 1.0g crude drug / kg); the low, medium, high-dose groups of water extract from 5-year-old planting ginseng(0.25, 0.5 and 1.0g crude drug / kg); the low, medium, high-dose group of ethanol extract from 5-year-old planting ginseng(0.25, 0.5 and 1.0g crude drug / kg), ten mice for each group. and immune function was observed after the mice were administered orally one consecutive month, two consecutive months. Results Compared with the control group, weight or index of spleen or thymus were significantly higher in high dose group of water or ethanol extract from ginseng(P 0.05). The high dose or medium dose group of water or ethanol extract from ginseng is tendency in improving the percentage or index of phagocytosis and the percentage of natural killer. Conclusion water or ethanol extract from ginseng showed the Enhance activity for body immune function.
