Abstract
Benzaldehyde glycol acetal was synthesized from benzaldehyde and glycol in the presence of SO42-/TiO2-MoO3-La2O3. The factors influencing the synthesis were discussed and the best conditions were found out. The optimum conditions are: molar ratio of benzaldehyde to glycol was 1:1.6, the quantity of catalyst was equal to 0.5% of feed stocks, and the reaction time is 40 min. SO42-/TiO2-MoO3-La2O3 was an excellent catalyst for synthesizing benzaldehyde glycol acetal and its yield can reach over 84.6%.
