Abstract
The benzaldehyde glycol acetal was synthesized from benzaldehyde and glycol using VB1 as the green catalyst.The effect of molar ratio of alcohol to aldehyde,catalyst amount and reaction time on yield was studied.The best conditions were as follows: the molar ratio of benzaldehyde to glycol was 1 ∶1.8,the mass ratio of the catalyst to the reactants was 0.2%,water-carrying agent of cyclohexane was 10 mL and the reaction time was 1.0 h.Under these conditions,the yield of benzaldehyde glycol acetal was up to 87.2%.
