Abstract
Objective To study the effects of Bushen Jiangu decoction on the proliferation of osteoblast observed by MTT method. Methods Rats were fed with Bushen Jiangu decoction once per day for 7 days. Blood was collected 2 hours after the last administration of medicine. Then serum was separated and added to the osteoblast culture medium. After 10-day culture, the absorbence density was determined by MTT method to study the effects of this medicine. Results In logarithmic growth period, the MTT value of rat osteoblast cultured with the serum was significantly higher than that in control group from day 3 to day 9. Conclusion Bushen Jiangu decoction promotes rat osteoblast proliferation, which can be detected by MTT method.
