Abstract

The technology of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) was studied in a turbocharged directinjected diesel engine in order to reduce NO_(x) emissions. The effects of different EGR rate on the performance and emission of the engine were researched in 13mode tests and the optimum EGR rates were determined to meet the requirements of power, economy and emissions.Through an electronic control system, the EGR rate of 13mode tests was controlled automatically. The engine dynamometer test results show that the EGR system is effective.
