Abstract
Objective To compare the clinical effect between DT light-post core and metal cast post core applied in the restoration for residual crown or root. Methods Totally 66 cases,aged from 20 to 60,with 90 teeth were selected randomly. 42 teeth were restored with DT light-post core and 48 teeth were restored with metal cast post core. All the teeth were restored with porcelain fused metal crown finally. Results After 0.5 to 2.5 years following-up,one tooth failed for crown loosen in DT light-post core with 97.75% successful rate. Three teeth failed for root fracture,one tooth failed for crown loose,and six teeth failed for gingival grey line in metal cast post core group with 78.78% success rate. Conclusion DT light-post core has better clinical effect than metal cast post core when subjected to the restoration for residual crown or root.
