Abstract
Objective:To compare the clinical effect between glass fiber reinforced post core and metal cast post core applied in the restoration of residual crown and root of anterior tooth. Methods:Among 95 teeth with residual crown and root of anterior tooth,41 teeth were restored with metal cast post core and 54 teeth were restored with glass fiber reinforced post core. Results:With 0.5~2.5 years following study,2 case failed for recurrent chronic apicitis,5 teeth failed for root fracture and 2 teeth failed for crown loose in the metal cast post core group, the success rate was 78.05%.1 case failed for recurrent chronic apicitis,1 tooth failed for root fracture,1 tooth failed for crown loose,1 tooth failed for post fracture in the glass fiber reinforced post core group with 92.59% success rate. The success rate showed that glass fiber reinforced post core was superior than that of metal cast post core, with significant difference between them (P0.05).Conclusion:Glass fiber reinforced post and light-cure resin core has better clinical effect than metal cast post core used to restore residual crown and root of anterior tooth.
