Apllication of Stroke Unit in the Treatment of Patients with Cerebral Infarction

OBJECTIVE:To discuss the role of stroke unit in the treatment of patients with cerebral infarction.METHODS:A total of 270 patients with cerebral infarction were divided into 2 groups.Group B was given routine drug treatment,but group A was treated with routine drugs plus stroke unit treatment.The major outcome measures were barthel index of activities of daily living,neurologic impairment score,and incidence of post-stroke depression that evaluated by HAMD scale.RESULTS:The BI and NDS in group A after treatment had better improvement as compared with before treatment and group B.The cure rate,excellent effective rate and total effective rate in group A were 47.5%,76.0%,and 93.5%,significantly higher than in group B(42.2%,66.0%,and 86.5%,respectively P0.01).The incidences of depression,shoulder-hand syndrome,and convulsion syndrome of limbs were significantly lower in group A than in group B.CONCLUSION:Stroke unit has showed its advantages,and it has become an effective intervention method in the reducing of invalidity rate and mortality after acute stroke.
