Secondary implantation of anterior chamber intraocular lens for traumatic cataract

Abstract

Objective To study the safety and efficacy of the flexible open-loop anterior chamber intraocular lens (ACIOL) in secondary implantation for traumatic cataract.Methods Secondary AC-IOL implantation was performed in 28 eyes (28 cases) with traumatic cataract after primary cataract extraction.All patients were followed up for at least 3 months.Results At postoperative 3 months,20 eyes(71.4%) had a uncorrected visual acuity of 0.5 or better,visual acuity of 24 eyes (85.7%) reached the preoperative best corrected visual acuity.Postoperative complications were corneal edema,uveitis and intraocular pressure increase.Conclusion Secondary flexible open-loop AC-IOL implantation is safe,effective and convenient for traumatic cataract.
