Evaluate the effect of operation in traumatic cataract.

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of operation in traumatic cataract.Methods 56 cases (58 eyes ) with traumatic cataract caused by variers reasons were recieved surgical treatment.In 58 eyes,44 eyes were accepted moden extracapsular cataract extraction(ECCE) or phacoemulsification,and implanted posterior chamber intraocular lens(IOL) primary;secondary posterior chamber IOL implantation was performed on 5 eyes; anterior chamber IOL implantation on 6 eyes and IOL suture fixation on 3 eyes.Results The post operation visual acuities have improved in 39 eyes (67.2%).The complications included rupture of posterior capsule and prolapse of vitreous,corneal edema,exudative membrane on IOL and after cataract.Conclusion These results indicate that traumatic cataract can get satisfactory effect by good operation and therapy before and after operation
