Abstract

Objective To study the expressions of p73,p63 and p53 proteins in oral squamous cell carcinoma and their clinical significance.Methods Immunohistochemical technology(P-V)was applied to detect the expressions of p73,p63 and p53 proteins in 48 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma and 20 cases of normal oral mucous membrane.Results(1)The expressions of p73,p63 and p53 in the tumor cells were significantly higher than that in normal epithelium(P 0.05).(2)The expressions of p73,p63 and p53 in the clinical stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ were significantly lower than these in clinical stage Ⅲ,Ⅳ(P 0.05).The positive rate of p73 was significantly correlated with lymph node metastases(P 0.05).(3)There was correlation between the expression of p73 and the expression of p53(r = 0.368,P 0.05),there was correlation between the expression of p63 and the expression of p53(r = 0.342,P 0.05).Conclusions In the course of pathogenesis and development of oral squamous cell carcinoma,overexpression of p73,p63 and p53 may be individually or conjunctly involved.Interaction between p73 and p63 plays an important role in tumorigenesis of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
