Abstract

Objective To study the relations between P73 and P53 expression and invasion as well as metastasis in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC).Methods The P73 and P53 were detected in carcinoma and non-carcinoma tissue that adjacent to carcinoma in 50 OSCC patients by immunohistochemistry method. The results were evaluated by computer-aided image and average optical density(AOD) analyzed statistically. Results The expressions of P73 and P53 in OSCC were significantly higher than that in the adjacent tissue(u=2.798,2.913;P0.01).The expression of P73 was positively related with T satging, invasive pattern and regional lymph node metastasis(r=0.288,0.327,0.374;P0.05).The expression of P53 was related with pathologic grading and regional lymph node metastasis(r=0.283,0.294;P0.05).The expression of P73 had no obvious correlation with P53(r=0.172,P0.05).Conclusion The expression of P73 and P53 can be used as an independent parameter in predicting the biological behavior and prognosis of OSCC.
