Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of P27 protein in endometrial carcinoma and its clinical significance. MethodsThe expression of p27 protein was detected in 42 cases of endometrial carcinoma with immunohistochemical technique, and compared with that in normal endometrium and hyperplastic endometrium.ResultsThe high nuclear expression rate of P27 protein in endometrial carcinoma was 21.4%,significantly lower than that in the normal endometrium and hyperplastic endometrium(χ~2 =5.470,12.306;P0.05).Nuclear expression of P27 protein was related with cell differentiation and it was low in moderately and poorly differentiated cells(χ~2 =12.715,P0.01).The cytoplasmic stain of P27 in endometrial tumor cells was 47.6%,which was significantly higher than that in normal endometrium and hyperplasia endometrium(H =57.656,P0.01).ConclusionThe deletion of nuclear expression of P27 is related to the genesis and development of endometrial cancer and its increased malignancy. The loss of nuclear localization of P27 protein is associated with inactivity of the protein.
