Abstract

A study on the water-holding ability of litter and soil in different plantations of Eucalyptus urophylla, Acacia mangium, A. melanoxylon, A. crassicarpa, A. plectocarpa, Cunninghamia lanceolata, Pinas massoniana was carried on at Dalingshan Forestry Station, Guangdong, China. The results showed that the order of the water-holding ability of litter is A. mangiumC. lanceolataA. crassicarpaA. melanoxylonE. urophyllaP. massonianaA. plectocarpa, and the order of the water-holding ability of soil is C. lanceolataA. crassicarpaA. plectocarpaP. massonianaE. urophyllaA. mangiumA. melanoxylon. The water-holding ability of litter in E. urophylla planted in 1990 was higher than that of being planted in 1995 but for the ability of soil, it is lower.
