Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of alprostadil on hemorheology and uric albumin excretion of the patients with diabetic nephropathy. Methods Fifty-six cases of diabetic nephropathy were divided into two groups, diabetic nephropathy control group(group 1,n=28) and diabetic nephropathy alprostadil group(group 2,n=28).Another 28 patients without diabetes, cardiovascular or cerebral vascular diseases were served as control group. Both group 1 and 2 were controlled the blood glucose, diabetic diet and hypoglycemic agents.Group 2 received 10 μg alprostadil intravenously daily for 3 weeks. All these three groups were determined hemorheology parameters and uric albumin at the beginning of trial.Hemorheology parameters and uric albumin were determined in group 1 and 2 at the end of trial. Results The blood viscosity at low shear rate and high shear rate, erythrocyte aggregation index, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, plasma fibrinogen, and platelet aggregation rate were significantly higher in both diabetic group 1 and 2 than in normal control(P0.01);but there was no significant difference of above-mentioned parameters between group 1 and 2(P0.05) at the beginning of the trial. The blood viscosity at low shear rate, erythrocyte aggregation index, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, plasma fibrinogen, and platelet aggregation rate were significantly lower in group 1 and 2 at the end of trial than at the beginning of the trial(P0.01),and were significantly lower in group 2 than group 1 at the end of trial(P0.05).Conclusion Alprostadil can reduce erythrocyte, platelet aggregation and uric albumin excretion in the patients with diabetic nephropathy.
