Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation of adiponectin level with insulin resistance in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods Adiponectin was determined in 40 patients with GDM and 34 control subjects. The insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR ) was calculated. Results (1)The meams of adiponectin and HOMA -IR were(7.83±1.57)μg/L and(3.57±1.27)respectively in GDM group and (9.36±1.41)μg/L and(2.98±1.03)respectively in the control subjects(all P0.05).(2)A multiple linear stepwise regression analysis indicated that BMI and adiponectin were independent factors affecting HOMA-IR. Conclusions Adiponectin level is lower in GDM compared with control subjects, and adiponectin might play an important role in pathogenesis of insulin resistance.
