Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes of tumor necrosis factor α(TNF α) with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the relationship between TNF α and insulin resistance(IR).Methods 38 cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus(group A),21 healthy persons without type 2 diabetes mellitus(group B) were selected to compare fasting blood glucose(FBG),fasting blood insulin(FINS) and serum TNF α by oxidase method,RIA and ELISA.Insulin sensitivity index(ISI) was also calculated. Results Analysis of variance revealed that FBG,FINS,TNF α were significantly higher while ISI lower in group A than those in group B.Conclusion In type 2 diabetes mellitus the level of TNF α increased and it was negatively correlated to ISI,which plays an important role in the development of the disease.
