Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical value of electronic colposcopy in early diagnosis of cervical carcinoma. Methods 249 patients who were examined with electronic colposcopy and cervical biopsy between March 2006 and October 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Colposcopy detected 157 cases of normal transformation zone, and 92 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)Ⅰ-Ⅲ.The pathological examination determined 170 cases of transformation zone,78 cases of CIN Ⅰ-Ⅲ,and 1 case of invasive carcinoma.Using the pathologic diagnosis as the golden standard, diagnosis of early cervical cancer with colposcopy had a sensitivity of 93.7%,a specificity of 89.4%,a false negative rate of 6.3%,and a positive predictive value of 80.4%.Conclusion Electronic colposcopy provides great value in diagnosis of CIN.It can serve as a screening method in cervical cancer diagnosis.
