Reasons and treatment of posterior capsule rupture in phacoemulsification

Objective To explore the reasons and tratment of posterior capsule rupture in phacoemulsification.Methods The clinical data in 639 cases (696 eyes) performed with phacoemulsification was retrospective analyzed,the reasons and treatment of posterior capsule rupture in phacoemulsification was investigated.Results The posterior capsule in 38 eyes were ruptured(5.46%),including 5 eyes in capsulorhexis,6 eyes in hydrodissection,14 eyes in the process of emulsification and 13 eyes in the cortex extraction.After the treatment,the visual acuity in 33 eyes was equal to or more than 0.3;The corneal edema appeared in 16 eyes,the anterior chamber intraocular lens was implanted into 1 eye,the intraocular pressure increased in 2 eyes and controled after treated with drug.Conclusion Posterior capsule rupture is a familiar complication in phacoemulsification,and happens in many steps.The cagy operation can lower it's happen rate and obtains good visual acuity.
