Analysis of posterior capsule rupture in phacoemulsification.

Abstract

Objective To analysis the cases and treatment of posterior capsule rupture in phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation.Methods Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation were performed on 124 eyes of 114 patients.In this series,posterior capsule rupture occurred on 16 eyes(12.90%) and vitreous loss occurred on 14 eyes(11.29%).The causes of them were analysed.Results The posterior capsule rupture occurred with capsulotomy on 2 eyes(12.50%), occurred during phacoemulsification on 11 eyes(68.75%),occurred in the course of aspiration of the cortex on 3 eyes(18.75%) Conclusion Intraoperatively,the prevention of posterior capsule rupture and improvement of management ability are very important.
