A before and after Investigation on KAP in Residents about Hypertension Intervention in Zhenhai District of Ningbo City

Abstract
Objective To evaluate effects of hypertension comprehensive intervention on community residents and know their changes of knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) , and to explore the blood-pressure control effects of community health promotion on hypertension patients. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted before and after intervention by two phases sampling. Results Hypertension control rate had a significant rise from 56.8% to 71.9% (P0.05). The average score of the test about hypertension was 85.5 and the rate of passing the test is 96.6%. More residents started to control the salt daily intakes and change the habits of consuming vegetable and fruits. The percentage of hypertension patients to measure the blood-pressure regularly rose from 31.3% to 56.7%. The number of residents holding the positive attitude towards carrying out hypertension health promotion in community increased dramatically. Conclusion Community comprehensive intervention is an effective way to control blood-pressure for hypertension patients.
