Abstract

Objective To evaluate the accuracy of Sysmex XE-2100 automated hematology analyzer on counting nucleated red blood cell(NRBC).Methods Nucleated red blood cells were counted from 69 positive specimens by Sysmex XE-2100automatedhematologyanalyzerandcomparedwiththemanualmethodwithmicroscopy.Results Therewasa good correlation between the manual and automatic method(r=0.992).No significant difference was observed between the counting results of two methods(P0.05).When the peripheral NRBC appeared, the counting of WBC was significantly higher than the value obtained when the NRBC was depleted and the proportion of lymphocytes was significantly lower(P0.05).While there was no difference among the red blood cells, hemoglobin and platelets(P0.05).Conclusion The NRBC counting by the XE-2100 automated hematology analyzer is sensitive, quick, accurate and reliable.
