Abstract
Ke-Da-Ke Disinfection Solution contains polyhexamethylene guanidine as the main germicidal ingredient.Carrier quantitative germicidal test and animal toxicity test were used to carry out laboratory study on its germicidal efficacy and toxicology. Results: The disinfectant solution containing polyhexamethylene guanidine 2000 mg/L with a 3 min contact time killed over 99.99% in average of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli on carriers and the disinfectant solution containing polyhexamethylene guanidine 3750 mg/L with a 5 min contact time killed over 99.99% of Candida albicans. The bacterial suspension containing 25%(v/v) calf serum slightly influenced the germicidal efficacy. The LD_(50) of the disinfectant solution was 5000 mg/kg·bw in mouse acute oral toxicity test.It was nonirritating to skin and mucous membrane. Its cumulative coefficient K was 5.Mouse bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test was negative. Conclusions: Polyhexamethylene guanidine Disinfection Solution has certain killing effect on vegetative form of bacteria and Candida albicans. It belongs to nontoxic substance in oral toxicity test and is nonirritaing to skin and mucous membrane.
