A random and controlled study on the united treatment with Buspirone and Venlafasine XR for depression

Objective:To investigate the clinical and side effects of the united treatment with Buspirone and the basic medicine(Venlafaxine XR,Sulpirde and Duxepin) for depression.Methods:104 cases of patients with refractory multiple myeloma depression,coincident with CCMD-3 were divided into two groups randomly and treated for eight weeks,the observed group(53 cases) was treated with Buspirone and the basic medicine,while the control group(51 cases) was only treated with basic medicine the clinical efficacy and side,effects were assessed.Hamiltons Anxiety scale(HAMA),Hamilton Depression scale(HAMD),HAMD total score seven factors score and Rating Scale for Side Effects(SERS).Results: After one week treatment,there were significant differences between the two group in HAMD total score,anxiety /somatization variation between day and night,and felling of despair of despair(P0.001);there was no significant differences in overall efficacy at the end of the 8th week while the improvement in HAMD total score,anxiety / somatization and cognitive disturbance was more obvious.In the observed group,in which the main side effects were constipation,dry mouth,tiredness and drowsiness and there and there was no significant digestive tract discomfort.Conclusions: There are fast efficacy and good compliance in depression patients treated with Buspirone united with Venlafaxine XR.If managed in time,the side effects such as constipation,dry mouth and tiredness so not affect the treatment.
