Abstract

Objective Evaluate therapeutic effect of venlafaxine in the treatment of first depression and adverse reactions. Methods 102 patients with first depression were randomly divided into two groups,51 cases in group A were treated with venlafaxine, and 51 cases in group B were treated with paroxetine. With Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale appears(TESS) assessed efficacy and adverse reactions. Results HAMD score was significantly reduced than before treatment in two groups (P0.01).After 2 weeks of treatment,HAMD score of group A was significantly lower than group B (χ2=7.121,P0.01).But two groups of patients with moderate to severe depression (HAMD24 points),after 2 weeks of treatment,HAMD score was no significant difference (P0.05).Conclusion Venlafaxine have rapid onset of action in severe depression.
