Abstract
Objective:To detect the efficacy and safety of venlafaxine and proxetine in the treatment of depression comorbid with anxiety.Method:73 patients with anxiety and depression were divided randomly into two groups(35 cases in study group;38 cases in control group). The study group was taken venlafaxine, and the control group was taken paroxitine. They were observed for 8 weeks.Hamilton depression scale(HAMD),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)and treatment emergent symptoms scale(TESS)were used to evaluate the efficacies and side effects. Results:After 8 weeks treatment, study group showed improvement rate for depression and for anxiety which was similar to in control group(χ2=0.69,0.90;P0.05).The two groups showed significant decreases on HAMD and HAMA scores(P0.05 or P0.01)and light side effects. Conclusion:Venlafaxine and paroxitine have definite efficacy and safety for combined anxiety and depression with better patients' compliance.
