Schema Theory and the Teaching of College English Reading

Reading,a particularly important respect in foreign language study,attracts great attention from reading research and teaching area.The adoption of schema theory,originally a psychological theory,has brought about rapid development and changes in it.This paper is intended to expound the influence of Schema on reading by analyzing the relationship between reader's schema and reading efficiency.The result of the analysis indicates that schema plays a very important role in effective reading.So it's necessary for language teachers to help students activate their schema when they are doing reading.
