Abstract

Objective To compare the value of CDPI and CDFI in the study of hepatocellular carcinoma complicated portal vein thrombosis. Methods Twenty one patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and portal vein thrombosis were studied by color Doppler power imaging (CDPI), color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) and pulsed Doppler (PD). Results Intrathrombosis bood flow signals with arterial tracing were detected in 12 cases (57.1%) by CDPI and in 7 cases (33.3%) by CDFI. CDPI was more accurate than CDFI in depicting the intrathrombosis vascularity, including vessel length, diameter and tracing form, the Doppler tracing was easier to obtain by CDPI than that by CDFI. Conclusions CDPI is superior to CDFI for detecting and depicting intrathrombosis flow of portal vein in HCC cases.
