E-cadherin expression the in carcinoma of endometrium.

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of E-cadherin(E-cad) in the carcinoma of endometrium. Methods We examined the E-cad expression in 16 cases of carcinoma of endometrium and 10 cases of fibromyoma or ovarian cyst as control by immunohistochemistry. Results E-cad expression in carcinoma of endometrium group was higher than that of the control group(P0.05); E-cad expression decreased with loss of differentiation and was inversely correlated with the depth of myometrial invasion(P0.05) in carcinoma of endometrium. Conclusion The loss of E-cad plays an important role in the invasion and metastasis of carcinoma of endometrium.
