Clinical observation of the treatment of glaucoma with cataract by trabeculectomy combined with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation

Objective To evaluate the effects of combined with pliacoemulsifcation,lens implantation and trabeculectomy for the treatment of glaucoma with cataract.Methods 20 Patients(26 eyes)with glaucoma and cataract were treated with phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation and trabeculectomy.Results All cases were follow-up for 3-12months. Average mean IOP was 14.23±3.47mmHg. Postoperative corrected visual acuity was better than 0.5in 16 eyes, 0.12-0.5 in 10 eyes. Postoperative astigmatism was 0.25-0.75D in 11 eyes, 1.00-1.25D in 6 eyes, 0D in 9 eyes.Conclusion Combined surgery is an effective, quick and safe procedure to control intraocular pressure, maintain visual acuity and avoid second surgery for glaucoma with cataract.
