Efficacy of levocetirizine for chronic idiopathic urticaria

Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of levocetirizine for chronic idiopathic urticaria.Methods A totle of 106 patients with chronic idiopathic urticaria were randomly divided into 2 groups:54 in a treatment group were treated with 5 mg levocetirizine,and 52 in a control group were treated with 10 mg cetirizine.Efficacy and safety were observed after 7,14 and 28 days.Results The effective rates in the levocetirizine group and in the cetirizine group were 66.7% and 67.3% on day 7,79.6% and 76.9% on day 14,and 90.7% and 88.5% after the therapy.There was no significant difference between the two groups.The drug adverse reaction for the levocetirizine group and the cetirizine group had no significant difference between the two groups.Conclusion Levocetirizine is effective and safe for chronic idiopathic urticaria.
