Advocating“Scholarship of Teaching”:A Realistic Choice to Improve the Quality of Teaching in Universities

The quality of teaching is the core of the quality of higher education.Advocating Scholarship of Teachingin universities has great significance for enhancing the status of teaching in universities,promoting the teaching reform and the professional development of teachers.But there exist such problems as the imbalance in the proportion of research and teaching,the outdated teaching methods,lack of research-oriented teaching,the insufficient openness for teaching,lack of colleagues' communication,the loose management of teaching quality and the low levels of professional guidance in China's universities,which are not conducive to the implementation of scholarship of teaching.Universities should improve the academic standards in teaching and promote the improvement of teaching quality by changing their ideas,establishing new systems,decentralizing,re-establishing research groups for teaching and improving the effectiveness of classroom teaching.
