The Quantitative Analysis and Appraisal of Urban Competitiveness in Shandong Province

Competitiveness between cities has been a new world viewpoint with the globalization and regionalization of the development of economy and technology . As a result ,improving the competitive capacities has been attracted urban government at home and abroad .This paper, using 36 indicators covering economic, infrastructral, science and technology, cultural, openness, environment and industrial structure competitiveness, firstly evalues 17 real central cities in Shandong province. It then analyses competitive capacities of all cities and classifies them into 5 types. Finally, several proposals in raising urban competitive capacities in Shandong province have been put forward in the end.
