Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical distribution and antimicrobial bacterial resistance of Staphylococcus and to direct the clinic to use antibiotic correctly and decrease nosocomiai infections in our hospital. Methods Disc diffusion test (K-B) was used to study the antimicrobial resistance. Results 262 strains of Staphylococcus were collected from July,2006 to May,2009.87 strains of Staphylococcus aurous (33.1%) is in the first place, 76 strains of Staphylococcus epidermidis (29.0%)is in the second place, other(such as S.intermedius, S.haemolyticus, S.saprophyticus, et al) are detected.185 MRS strains were isolated and accounted for 70.7% of 262 isolates of Staphylococcus. Among 77 MSS strains, the resistant rates of penicillin and erythromycin were 81.0%~84.4% and 57.7%~61.9% respectively. All MRS strains were sensitive to teicoplanin, vancomycin and most of them were sensitive to nitrofurantoin and rifampin, however most of these strains were resistant to the other antibiotics. Conclusion The number of Staphylococcus among clinical isolates as well as their antibiotic resistance are increasing, further enhancing Staphylococcus resistance and characterization of panresistance mechanism to inform the rational use of antimicrobial agents and containment of Staphylococcus resistance.
