Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution and resistance of Staphylococcus in Qingdao and for offering reasonable evidence to antibiotics therapy.METHODS Totally 1286 Staphylococcus strains were collected from 4 hospitals in Qingdao. The identification was analyzed by ATB Expression automatic microbiology analytical instrument system. The bacterial susceptibility test was done by Kirby-Bauer agar diffusion method.Resistant phenotypes were determined with erythromycin and clindamycin discs using the D test method.RESULTS From 1286 strains the Staphylococcus aureus(580 strains,45.1%) was in the first place, then was S.epidermidis(382 strains 29.7%),and others(such as S.haemolyticus,S.hominis,S.warneri,et al) and from them.954 MRS strains were isolated and accounted for 74.2%.Of the 384 strains resistant to erythromycin but susceptible to clindamycin,181 strains(47.1%) showed the positive D test results.Among 332 MSS strains, the resistant rates to penicillin and erythromycin were 81.3-81.9% and 45.1-52.3%,respectively.All MRS strains were sensitive to teicoplanin, vancomycin and most of them were sensitive to nitrofurantoin and rifampin. However most of these strains were resistant to other antibiotics.CONCLUSIONS The number of Staphylococcus among clinical isolates as well as their antibiotic resistance are increasing. The incidence of MRS is high in our hospital. We should pay much attention to detecting MRS and their susceptibility to antibiotics.Afterward, doctors use the antibiotics reasonably and effectively depending on the result.
