Abstract
Objective To discuss the MRI features of central neurocytoma in the lateral ventricle.Materials and Methods The MRI features were retrospectively analyzed in 5 cases with central neurocytoma proved by operation and pathology. Plain and contrast enhanced MRI scanning were done in 4 cases. Only plain MRI was done in 1 case. There were 2 males and 3 females with an average age of 29.2 years. Results The central neurocytoma tended to be round or irregular in shape, and had a clear boundary. The tumors appeared isointensity signal and hypointensity signal on T1WI and isointensity signal and hyperintensity signal on T2WI,flow void could be seen in 3 cases. Mild and moderate heterogeneous enhancement of tumor could be seen on T1WI after injection of Gd-DTPA. There were 4 tumors located at the septum pellucidum and Monro foramen between the lateral ventricles. Conclusion There are some characteristic MRI features of central neurocytoma in the lateral ventricle. It is possible to improve diagnostic accuracy of central neurocytoma combining with the tumor's location and the patient's age.
