Expressions and clinical significance of livin and P53 protein in gastric carcinoma and its adjacent tissue

Abstract
Objective To investigate the expressions of protein livin and P53 protein in gastric carcinoma and its adjacent tissue.Methods The expressions of livin and P53 protein from 40 specimens of gastric carcinoma and their adjacent tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry.Results The positive expressive rates of livin and P53 protein were 47.5% and 52.5% in specimens from gastric carcinoma,significantly different from those in their adjacent tissue(5.0% and 12.5%)(P0.05).The positive rate of livin in gastric carcinoma with lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than that without lymph node metastasis(P0.05).The positive rates of livin and P53 protein in gastric carcinoma of PTNM Ⅲ+Ⅳ were significantly higher than those of PTNM Ⅰ+Ⅱ(P0.05).The expression of livin was not correlated with the expression of P53 protein(P0.05).Conclusion The abnormal expressions of livin and P53 are correlated with malignant biological behaviors of gastric cancer,which plays an important role in judging the prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
