Expression of Livin and Survivin in gastric carcinoma and its clinical significance

Objective To investigate the expression of Livin and Survivin in gastric carcinoma,and to analyze the correlation between Livin and Survivin in gastric carcinoma.Methods The expressions of Livin and Survivin in 82 cases of human gastric carcinoma tissues and 11 cases of human normal gastric tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry(SP).Results The positive expression rate of Livin in gastric carcinoma(60.9%)was significantly higher than that(0%) in normal gastric tissues(χ2=14.507,P0.01),furthermore,the expression of Livin was closely correlated with the differentiation degree of the carcinoma and lymph node metastases(χ2=5.2439,P0.05).The positive expression rate of Survivin in gastric carcinoma(69.5%)was significantly higher than that(9.1%) in normal gastric tissues(χ2=15.086,P0.01).There was no correlation between the expression of Livin and Survivin in human gastric carcinoma(χ2=1.873,P0.05).Conclusion Livin and Survivin are closely correlated with the pathogenesis and development of gastric carcinoma,which could be a new target for diagnosis and treatment of gastric carcinoma.
