Abstract

Objective To explore the sonographic characteristic of gastrointesti-nal tract perforation and the value of color doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal tract perforation. Methods We compared ultrasound examination results with X-ray examination results of 116 patients who were confirmed to suffer from gastrointestinal tract perforation by operation. Results In 116 patients, intraperitoneal free air was observed in 103 cases by ultrasound, accounted for 88.8%.Enterocelia and pelvic effusion was found by ultrasound in 107 cases, accounted for 92.2%.Enterocelia masses and encapsulated effusion was showed by ultrasound in 8 cases, accounted for 6.9%.Perforation positions were found by ultrasound in 51 cases, accounted for 43.9%.Intraperitoneal free air was observed in 95 cases by X-ray,accounted for 81.9%.Intraperitoneal free air was not found by ultrasound and X-ray in 13 cases who suffered from encapsulated gastrointestinal tract perforation. Conclusion Color doppler ultrasound has important value in early diagnosis of gastrointestinal tract perforation.
