Detection of uPA gene expression in breast cancer with realtime PCR and its clinical significance

Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between uPA expression in peripheral blood and its clinical stage and metastatic potential in breast cancer as well as its clinical significance.Methods uPA mRNA was measured by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR in 71 cases of normal subjects' peripheral blood and 90 cases of breast cancer patients' peripheral blood.Results The expression of uPA gene was elevated in 97.8% of breast cancer patients and in 40.8% of normal subjects.There was a strong correlation between uPA expression and clinical stage and metastasis(P0.05).No significance was found in uPA expression in the age,pathological type and tumor size.Conclusion The uPA gene is highly expressed in most of the breast cancer,and there is strong correlation to pathological stage and metastasis.Detection of uPA expression in peripheral blood has certain significance for diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer with real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR.
