Abstract
Objective To evaluate clinical effects of one-visit root canal therapy by ProTaper nickel-titanium instrument. Methods A total of 206 teeth of 206 patients requiring root canal therapy in the study were divided into two groups randomly:106 teeth were instrumented by ProTaper nickel-titanium instrument in the test, and 100 teeth were instrumented by stainless steel K-files for control. All teeth were obturated with lateral condensation method. The efficiency of preparation and obturation was analyzed with digital radiographs before, during and after operation. The occurrence of pain in 14 days after treatment was recorded. Results The rate of satisfactory radiographical results of the test group was 88.7%,which was significantly higher than 64% of the control(P 0.05).The acute reaction rate was 1.9%,which was significantly lower than 14% of the control(P 0.05).Conclusion ProTaper nickel-titanium instrument can reduce the rate of acute reaction in one-visit root canal therapy and has a reliable result of root canal filling in short period.
